A young boy who was born in Jordan and only became a nipper 12 months ago has been crowned Sydney Northern Beaches Male Junior Life Saver of the Year.
Zizo Ayoub has wanted to be a lifesaver for a while now but wasn’t old enough.
He joined Dee Why nippers only last year.
”I did nippers so I could do my SRC (Surf Rescue Certificate),” Zizo said.
Zizo, 13, competes at carnivals and says he would really like to improve his board skills. ”My swimming has improved a lot,” he said.
”The club nominated me and I feel very proud of myself and very happy to represent Dee Why.”
Zizo has set himself targets.
“I would really love to do my Bronze Medallion, Advanced First Aid, Spinal Management and hopefully go on to complete my Silver and Gold (Medallions),” he said.
And if that’s not enough – IRB crew and then driver. ”It would be heaps of fun,” he said.
Zizo is already doing patrols and was on duty at Dee Why yesterday (Sunday).
He will now go on and represented SNB in the NSW Junior Life Saver of the Year competition to be announced in April.
