Congratulations to Trish Newton who received an OAM (Order of Australia Medal) for services to Surf Life Saving in the Queen’s Birthday honours list.

Trish heads up the TIPS (Traumatic Incident Peer Support) team for Surf Life Saving Sydney Northern Beaches Branch, which provides a debriefing and support service to all Surf lifesaving members involved in a critical incident. Her work has been invaluable in the field of peer support over many years.
In 1998, Trish made Australian history by becoming the first female president of any surf club in Australia when she was voted into the top job at Dee Why SLSC.

Trish continues to serve on many committees utilising her considerable talent, and is a former SLSNSW Administrator of the Year and received the International Crisis Response Leadership Award from the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation in 2015.
She has mentored and motivated Club members in all facets of surf lifesaving including Club Presidents and Vice Presidents and Branch Directors.
