Surf Life Saving is about having fun, being physically fit, learning teamwork and aquatic safety skills, competing in surf sports, and helping make swimming in our oceans a safer pastime. It offers a range of opportunities which will promote:

Patrolling Duties
As an active patrolling member of our club you will be allocated to a patrol team and will be expected to attend each of your rostered patrols (typically 11 x half-day patrols each season). Patrols are the most important component of Club activities.
While on patrol your duties will involve:
- Observing swimmers
- Attending to any minor first aid cases
- Educating members of the public about water safety
- Radio operations
- Performing any rescues as directed by the Patrol Captain

Patrolling Season
Dee Why Beach is patrolled by Volunteer Lifesavers on weekends and public holidays from the 3rd Saturday in September to the end of April.

Parking Permits
Northern Beaches Council provide parking permits free of charge to actively patrolling members.
To receive a permit you must be:
- an active patrolling member,
- rent in the council area or live outside the Northern Beaches Council area, and
- have registered and paid for the coming season.
