Dear Members, please join us for a memorial service to celebrate the life of Phil Thomas.
Date: Saturday 3rd May 2025
Location: Dee Why Surf Life Saving Club
Refreshments will be served from 12:30pm in the Dee Why SLSC Betty Barry Room, with a meal to follow the service.
Phil Thomas, Deputy President and Life Member:
Phil was a member of Dee Why SLSC for 32 years, first gaining his Bronze Medallion and Advanced Resuscitation Techniques Certificate during the 1992/93 season. During his long service to the Club, Phil patrolled move than 1000 hours and took on a range of senior roles including being the current Deputy President, and former Club Captain and Instructor for the Bronze Medallion and our IRB courses.
Alongside Phil’s dedication to lifesaving he also had a passion for Surf Sports, where he represented Dee Why with great distinction in IRB racing, Swimming, Board and Ski events and First Aid and Patrol Competitions. His strong commitment to Surf Sports included him being our Club’s Competition Manager for more than 12 years and a Competition Official and Carnival Referee at many Surf Sports events.
Phil’s ongoing commitment to the management and maintenance of the high standards of the Club across all aspects of the Club led to him being awarded Life Membership in season 2016/17.
Phil will be deeply missed by his many friends. Our thoughts, love and deep condolences also go to Phil’s family at this difficult time. May his memory live on in the lives he touched and at the Club he helped shape.
Lachlan Pike, on behalf of the Dee Why SLSC Management Committee.
