Become a Lifesaver at Dee Why SLSC

Whether you're here to serve, learn, compete, or connect -
Dee Why Surf Life Saving Club is a place where you'll grow, belong, and make memories that stay with you long after the season ends.

Surf Lifesaving is an iconic part of Australian culture, and since 1912, Dee Why Surf Life Saving Club has proudly flown the red and yellow flags—serving the local community with dedication, courage, and heart.

Our lifesavers play a vital role in keeping Dee Why Beach safe, offering emergency response, promoting water safety, and providing a reassuring presence to beachgoers throughout the season. But it’s more than just patrols—it’s about building friendships, sharing experiences, and creating memories that last a lifetime.

Looking for a rewarding way to stay fit, gain new skills, and give back to your community?

Join Dee Why Surf Life Saving Club and become part of Surf Life Saving Australia’s proud tradition of keeping our beaches safe.

To patrol in the iconic red and yellow uniform, you’ll need to complete either the Bronze Medallion (Certificate II in Public Safety and Aquatic Rescue), Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC) or First Aid Certificate.

DYSLSC Lifesaving

What is a Lifesaver

A lifesaver is a trained volunteer committed to protecting lives on our beaches. Whether it’s performing rescues, administering first aid, or educating the public, lifesavers are the heart of our club and the frontline of coastal safety.

Patrol Information

Patrols at Dee Why SLSC run from late September through to April. During this time, our members work in teams to ensure the beach is safe, welcoming, and well-supported.

A Role for everyone

Lifesaving isn’t just about being in the surf. From radio operations and first aid to logistics and administration, there are plenty of roles that don’t require you to get your feet wet. Everyone has something valuable to contribute—and every contribution helps build a stronger, more connected club.
