Surf Rescue

Description: The Surf Rescue Certificate provides participants with the knowledge of basic patrolling and surf awareness in order to be able to participate in lifesaving operations

Outcome: Probationary patrolling member

Pre-requisite: 13+ years

Course Duration: 3 – 5 days

Bronze Medallion

Description: The Bronze Medallion course provides participants with the knowledge of basic patrolling and surf awareness in order to be able to participate in lifesaving operations

Outcome: Patrolling member

Pre-requisite: 15+ years

Course Duration: Bronze training is generally held over a 6-7 week period with dry sessions (theory, first aid & CPR) on a weekday evening and wet sessions (surf activities & rescue practice) on a weekend morning.

Silver Medallion

Description: The Silver Medallion in Aquatic Rescue provides participants with the skills and knowledge to effectively participate in search and rescue operations

Outcome: Patrolling member

Pre-requisites: 16+ years at time of assessment and Bronze Medallion

Course Duration: 16 hours (approx)

Gold Medallion

Description: The Gold Medallion provides participants with advanced skills and knowledge to manage emergency situations in autonomous situations

Outcome: Lifeguard / Advanced Patrolling Member

Pre-requisites: 17+ years, Bronze Medallion, Apply First Aid, Silver Medallion Basic Beach Management and Silver Medallion Advanced First Aid

Course Duration: Dependent on prior experience and fitness levels
